Background: Oral lichen planus (OLP), the mucosal counterpart of cutaneous lichen planus, presents frequently in the fourth decade of life and affects women more than men in a ratio of 1.4:1. It is predominantly seen in females. Hence; we conducted the present study to assess the prevalence of OLP among female patients in Jammu population. Materials & methods: The present study included assessment of prevalence of OLP among female patients of Jammu population. A total of 100 female patients were included in the present study. We also took into the account the stressful conditions, if present, in the patients. All the results were summarized and analyzed by SPSS software. Results: Mean age of the subjects was 35.6 years. OLP was found to be present in 3 female patients in the present study group. Conclusion: Prevalence rate of OLP among female population is 3 percent.
