Clinicopathological Analysis of Odontogenic Cysts -A Retrospective Study | |

Background: Odontogenic cysts are described by an pathological cavity either totally or incompletely secured with epithelial tissue. Odontgenic cysts are pathological lesions beginning from tooth forming structures and they deserve basic consideration because of the entanglements they cause. The point of the present investigation was to decide the relative pervasiveness of odontogenic cysts and to recognize the clinicopathological qualities. Materials and Methods: A review observational examination was directed on 120 histopathological reports from January 2014 to December 2016. Patients with radicular cysts, dentigerous cysts, odontogenic keratocysts, lateral periodontal cysts and glandular odontogenic cysts were additionally investigated. The main features recorded were age, sex, site, etiology, frequency, radiological features and histological features for confirmative analysis. Result: Odontogenic cysts represented 11.4% of all injuries biopsied all through the examination time frame. Mean patient age was 29.5 years and 59% of the patients were males. Radicular cyst was the most pervasive histological sort (52%), trailed by dentigerous cyst (30%). The mandible was the most common site of the injuries (65%). Odontogenic cyst appear to have an unmistakable preference for the male sexual orientation, the second and third decade of life and are more prevalent in the mandible and principle site was lower third molar, trailed by upper canine. Conclusion: Radicular cysts, dentigerous cysts and odontogenic keratocysts were the most widely recognized cystic injuries, representing 87% of all odontogenic sores, with radicular cyst being generally common.
