Focal reactive gingival lesions are caused by chronic irritation of gingiva due to dental plaque, calculus, over hanging dental restorations and ill-fitting dental prosthesis. Chronic gingival irritation can cause tissue damage and inflammation, which can then promote the growth of fibroblasts, multinucleated giant cells, endothelial cells, and tissue mineralization. A case with growth of size approx. 1x1cm seen in the gingiva 11 and 12, reddish compared to surrounding gingiva which is painless, soft in consistency, rough in texture, pedunculated.
