Background: When placing dental implants, a flap is traditionally elevated to better visualize the implant recipient site, providing that some anatomical landmarks are clearly identified and protected. When a limited amount of bone is available, a flap elevation can help implant placement to reduce the risk of bone fenestrations or perforations. Hence; we planned the present study to assess the efficacy of flapless and traditional dental implant surgery. Materials & methods: The present study included assessment of efficacy of flapless and traditional technique of placement of dental implants in patients undergoing dental implant surgeries. After assessment, the investigator decided pre- and intraoperatively whether the FL method could be applied for a particular site of implantation. Standard protocols were used for performing flapless and traditional dental implants surgeries. Patients were recalled for follow-up and complete examination of all the patients was done. All the records were noted and analysed by SPSS software. Results: A total of 10 cases were included in the present study and were divided into two study groups. One group comprised of patients in which flapless technique was used while the other group comprised of patients in which traditional technique was used. Mean change in radiographic bone level was approximately similar in both the study groups. Conclusion: Both quantity and morphology of the bone should be considered while choosing Flapless technique for placement of dental implants.
