ESTIMATION OF COPPER AND ZINC LEVELS IN THE SERUM OF ORAL SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS PATIENTS

Background: OSMF is a very much perceived possibly threatening condition in oral cavity it might prompt oral cancer, a conceivably deadly infection prompting bring up in rate among more youthful and more seasoned individuals. Follow components assumes a critical part in development and keeping up the trustworthiness of cells and tissues . Debilitated level of such components may impede cell and physiological capacity. In this study we inspected copper and zinc proportion in OSMF patients. Materials and methods: A case-control study was led on 25 age and sex coordinated people of OSMF and 25 sound controls are taken for this examination. Under aseptic precautionary measures 5 ml of venous blood was collected. The tissue and serum centralizations of copper and zinc in these 50 subjects were measured by spectrophotometric technique. Result: The mean serum copper levels were increased and zinc levels were decreased in OSMF patients when contrasted with controls. The mean serum copper levels demonstrated an expanding pattern while zinc levels demonstrated a diminishing in OSMF patients. Conclusion: The serum copper and zinc levels in OSMF demonstrated noteworthy contrast in contrast with that of controls. These discoveries show that serum copper and zinc may have a contributory part in the etiopathogenesis of OSMF.
