Background: Border molding is the shaping of the border areas of an impression tray by functional or manual manipulation of the tissue adjacent to the borders to duplicate the contour and size of the vestibule.Hence; we planned the present study to assess the retention of complete dentures fabricated by two different impression materials. Materials and methods: The present study included comparative evaluation of retention of dentures fabricated by two different border molding materials. All the patients were randomly divided into two study groups with 25 patients in each group. Group 1 included patient in which Border moulding was done with low fusing compound (green stick), while group 2 included patients in which Border moulding was done with heavy bodied addition silicone (putty). The force required to displace the denture base was measured using digital force guaze for each patient. The statistical analysis of the data was done using SPSS software for windows. Results: Significant results were obtained while comparing the mean retentive force in the two study groups. Conclusion: Retention was found to be better in the dentures fabricated using heavy bodied polyvinyl siloxane
