Stem Cell in Modern Dentistry- A Review Article
Tarun Vyas

A stem cell is a special kind of cell that has a unique capacity to renew itself and that have a remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body. Serving as a sort of repair system for the body, they can theoretically divide without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential to either remain as a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function. Stem cell research has the potential to impact not just one disease but numerous ones e.g.  Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Burn victims, Leukemia, tooth regeneration, bone regeneration and many more but to be able to harness such therapeutic potential of stem cells, scientists need to learn how to direct them to differentiate appropriately, their therapeutic potential and to ensure that they do not continue to multiply in an uncontrolled way and not form a tumor.
Keywords: Stem Cells, Oral Cancer, Tooth Regeneration, Tumor, Implant.
