Osteomyelitis As A Post Extraction Complication: A Case Report

Osteomyelitis is a bone-destroying inflammatory condition caused by invading bacteria.It affects people of all ages and can result from a variety of causes, including caries, impacted tooth post-operative traumatic wound infection and surrounding soft tissue infections. It most usually affects the mandible rather than the maxilla in the maxillofacial region. Osteomyelitis in the mandible is usually odontogenic, affecting the dentate region. Hematogenous osteomyelitis is caused by a variety of microorganisms, with Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pyogenes, and Haemophilusinfluenzae being the most prevalent. Here,we present an overview of two such cases.
