Background: Dentures are routinely used for prosthetic rehabilitation of complete edentulous patients. Many investigators in the past literature have evaluated the dimensional stability of newer denture base materials. Hence; we planned the present study to evaluate the dimensional stability of various denture base materials over twelve months of clinical use. Materials & methods: The present study included assessment the dimensional stability of various denture base materials over twelve months of clinical use. A total of 30 patient’s edentulous patients were included in the present study with age of 55 years and above. All the patients were randomly divided into three study groups with ten patients in each group. In all the three groups, fabrication of the denture base was done based on the type of the technique of their respective group. On the denture base, assessment of accuracy of denture dimension was done by measuring between set points using caliper. All the results were compiled and analysed by SPSS software. Results: Dimensional change observed in Group A at four, eight and twelve months’ time was found to be 1.56, 1.60 and 1.40 respectively. However, no change was observed in the dimensional stability in group C at different time intervals. Conclusion: Cobalt chrome control group remained most stable in terms of dimensions in comparison to the other study groups.
Key words: Denture base, Dimensional, Stability
