Objective: The study was planned to evaluate the outcome of oral health education on oral health status of children under going orthodontic treatment. Methods: The total study sample consisted of 116 subjects and then they were randomly divided into test group (56) and a control group (60). Oral hygiene instructions were given to the test group with proper oral health aids, whereas no such instructions were given to the control group. The baseline oral hygiene scores were recorded during the first visit. Next recording was done after a period of 6 months.  The oral hygiene status of all the participants (test & control) was evaluated with Oral hygiene index simplified OHI-S developed by Greene-Vermillion. Paired t-test was performed on all the variables to evaluate between both the groups at p value of 0.05. Results: It was found that frequency of positive habits were more among test group than controls. Overall oral hygiene index scores in the test group decreased by 1.09±1.426 from the beginning to end of the study. In the control group the levels of both debris and calculus increased with time. Clinical Significance: The study clearly showed significant difference among both the groups and the impact of oral hygiene instructions on oral hygiene.
