Comparative evaluation of accuracy of different implant impression techniques
Dr Neeraj Khatkar, Dr Komal Suhag

Background: The present study was conducted for comparing and assessing the accuracy of different implant impression techniques. Materials & methods: The present study was conducted for comparing and assessing the accuracy of different implant impression techniques. Polyvinyl siloxane (putty and light bodied) was compared with two transfer techniques – indirect and direct were used to record impressions of the master model simulating the intraoral situation. The values of experimental casts were obtained from the corresponding intercoping linear distance of the master model. All the results were recorded in Microsoft excel sheet and were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: Two techniques were compared- Direct technique and indirect technique. Mean inter-coping distance among the group D- PVS and group ID-PVS was 0.042 and 0.083 respectively. Significant results were obtained while comparing the mean inter-coping distance among both the study groups. Conclusion: Both the impression procedures studied showed some distortion in transferring the implant positions. However; maximum accuracy was seen in direct technique. Key words: Dental, Implants
