Assessment of Prevalence of Peri-implantitis in Patients Undergoing Dental Implants

Background: Peri-implantitis is a common problem these days affecting a significant proportion of population underlying dental implants. We planned the present study to assess the prevalence of peri-implantitis in patients undergoing dental implant procedures. Materials & methods: The present study included assessment of prevalence of peri-implantitis in patients undergoing dental implant procedures. A total of 80 patients were included in the present study that underwent prosthetic rehabilitation by dental implant procedures. Follow-up was done in all the patients for one year and complete examination of peri-implant area was done. All the results were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: A total of 80 patients were included in the present study, out of which, 60 were males and the remaining 20 were females. The overall prevalence of peri-implantitis among study population was 8.75 percent. Conclusion: Peri-implantitis represent a significant problem for failure of dental implants. However; we recommend future studies. Key words: Implant, Peri-implantitis, Prevalence.
