Background: Diabetes is a worldwide health problem. The main goal while performing dental treatment is pain relief. It is provided by the use of local anaesthesia. The present study was aimed at evaluating the effect of epinephrine in diabetic patient undergoing dental extraction. Materials and methods: The study involved total of 210 subjects reporting to the hospital for the purpose of dental extraction. The study was conducted from June 2015 to august 2016.Patients were instructed to have usual meals before extraction and take their usual course of medications. Levels of blood glucose were measured before giving LA, after giving LA and after extraction of teeth. The results were compared using student t test. Probability value of less than 0.05 was considered as significant. Result: The mean levels of glucose before LA administration was 196.33+/-29.09 and after LA administration was 198.53+/- 30.44.The mean level of glucose before extraction was 171.45+/-22.12 and after extraction was 224.65+/- 43.45. There was significant difference in the glucose levels with p value greater than 0.05. Conclusion: Epinephrine does not exert any significant affect amongst healthy and diabetic patients.
