Immediate Implant Placement at the Time of Mandibular Molar Fresh Sockets
Shivani Jandial

Research interest on immediate placement of dental implants has shifted from implant survival toward optimal preservation of soft and hard tissues. The aim of the study was to assess the predictability of implant placement in fresh extracted mandibular molars. The present series reported six cases treated with placement of implants in fresh sockets. Clinical assessment of both extra-oral and intra-oral examination was carried out with Prosthodontic measures. Patients were also gone through regular panoramic radiographic examination. The extracted tooth socket was curetted carefully and measured with a periodontal probe. Pilot drill was used for initial preparation. Implant placement done in the proposed site. The flap was repositioned and sutured with interrupted sutures. Post loading evaluation of implants was done after one, three and six months using Miller Mobility Index (MI) scores. None of the cases showed any mobility during the follow up era. A steady decline in probing depth measurement was noticed and there were not any complications faced in all the cases. Immediate implant placement in fresh extracted sockets seemed to be effective predictable surgical procedure, which affords implant strength for restoration of crown.
