Assessment of Prevalence of Oral Leukoplakia among Jammu Population- An Epidemiological Study

Background: High-risk of malignant transformation is encountered if the risk factors are not eliminated in cases of oral leukoplakia. Hence we planned the present study to assess the prevalence of oral leukoplakia in Jammu population. Materials & methods: The present study included assessment of prevalence of oral leukoplakia. A total of 100 subjects were included in the present study. Examination was done using a disposable mouth mirror and explorer under good illumination. All the results were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: Oral leukoplakia was found to be present in 3 percent of the total study population. Conclusion: Association of tobacco and chronic check biting with oral leukoplakia were found in the present study.
