Osheen Sharma

Background: Cellulitis is a common bacterial skin infection that spreads diffusely and often involves subcutaneous tissue. Various treatment protocols are available for treating cellulitis patients. Hence, we undertook the present study to compare the efficacy of short term and standard therapy for treating patients with cellulitis. Materials & methods: The present study was undertaken for assessing the efficacy of short term and standard therapy in patients suffering from cellulitis. All examination members got anti-microbials for the initial 5 days of treatment. On the off chance that underlying anti-microbials were managed intravenously, a change to an oral anti-microbial was executed when 1 to 2 days of unmistakable change happened. Most anti-microbial courses, be that as it may, were altogether oral with subjects changing from the underlying medication to levofloxacin inside 24 hours after introduction. All the results were analysed by SPSS software. Chi- square test and student t test were used for assessment of level of significance. P- value of less than 0.05 was taken as significant. Results: At fifth day time, 2 score and 3 score were observed in the levofloxacin five day and ten day group. Non- significant results were observed while comparing both the treatment protocols. Conclusion: Short course of levofloxacin as the initial treatment is an effective mode of treatment in patients with uncomplicated cellulitis
